Treatment Modality:
I provide individual therapy for people struggling with a variety of issues (including Eating Disorders, depression, self-esteem issues, anxiety, and relationship problems).  Additionally, I offer consultation for parents, schools, or others who want to learn how to help someone with an Eating Disorder.

Populations Served:
Adolescents (13+) and adults

Therapeutic Style:
My general goal is to help my patients gain an understanding of why they are who they are (why they act how they act, why they feel like they do), to provide the optimal setting for change.   My approach is collaborative: the patient is the expert on him- or herself, while I provide the expertise on how to create change.  Some of the changes my patients make include increasing self-esteem or self-understanding, eliminating unhealthy behaviors or patterns, and increasing supportive and satisfying relationships.

For example, when working with someone who has an Eating Disorder, I take a multi-pronged approach.  We will work towards eliminating unhealthy behaviors, increasing healthy behaviors, and understanding what purpose the Eating Disorder serves for the patient.  We will also work towards an increase in self-acceptance.

Therapeutic Orientation:
Primarily psychodynamic, with cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy techniques used as needed.

Fee:
The fee for each 50-minute individual session is $150.

The only insurance that I am contracted with is the UCSB student insurance (UShip and GShip).  If you have an insurance that provides coverage for out-of-network providers, I will give you monthly receipts that you will then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
