Binge Eating Disorder is characterized by recurrent binge eating without the regular use of compensatory measures attempting to counter the binge eating.
Below I list some of the signs and symptoms of Binge Eating Disorder. You don't have to exhibit all of these behaviors to have Binge Eating Disorder. Additionally, you may have experiences or behaviors that are not listed here.
Binges on food (eating large amounts in a short period of time), typically in secret, often when not hungry
Binges feel frenzied: she doesn't taste the food, and she feels unable to stop
Feels ashamed about the binges
Does not compensate for binges by purging, fasting, or overexercising
Tends to be overweight
Binges interfere with work or social life
Becomes socially withrawn
Spends significant time thinking about food and planning binges
